FAQ

What do I have to do to obtain my real estate license?
You’re very first step is to complete the 90 Pre-licensing Real estate salesperson class.  This can be done online.  You have up to six months to complete it once you start.
How much does it cost to be in real estate?
$350.00– for the 90 hrs sales person’s license class online.
$50.00- School final exam fee.  You pay this fee At our testing facility.  The fee will be applied towards your association cost (see What is an association)
$30.00- Intro To contract Writing-This will be completed  Live in person after your 90 hours.
$75.00– state testing fee.  Once you have completed the course you will be given directions on how to sign up for your state test Through Pearson Vue.
$60.00-Arizona state licensing fee.  This will be due every 2 years.
$67.00 Fingerprint Card AZ DPS(See How to Apply Below)
Total For Licensing Cost- $632.00
After school- Industry fees -All Fees Below Are Yearly (Once You Have an Active Real Estate License)
$560.00 Local association.  This is Your local, state and national fees.  When you join this association you become a Realtor®.
$365 multiple listing service.  Aka MLS fee.  This is what you join to see the homes for sale.
$210.00 supra lockbox Key.  This will be a monthly fee of about $17 a month for the app. You will be able to access the homes that are listed on the MLS.
Total Yearly Fees=$1,135.00
Real estate company Fees
Every real estate company has its own fee structure.  Usually, there is a monthly fee and a per-transaction fee associated with any brokerage. An additional fee with the errors and omissions insurance.  All these fees vary based on a brokerage.

FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE CARD

HOW DO I APPLY FOR A FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE CARD?

There are two ways to apply:

1. Submit an Electronic Application – Regular (Non-IVP) or IVP:

To apply electronically, click the “Apply for a Card” tab.

· This option is available to Arizona residents only.

· NOTE: If you need to submit an IVP Renewal Application, you can still apply electronically. On the “Reasons” page, be sure you select one of the two IVP Renewal Options on the dropdown menu. In lieu of setting up an appointment to be fingerprinted, you will be required to provide the IVP # that is on the front of your current card.

2. Submit a Paper Application – Regular (Non-IVP) or IVP:

· To obtain a paper application, call the Applicant Clearance Card Team at (602) 223-2279 and request one be mailed to you, or you can pick up an application at the DPS Public Service Center at 2222 W. Encanto Blvd. Phoenix, AZ 85009(link is external). Office hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (closed on all state holidays).

· You may be able to obtain a paper application from your employer or agency.

· You can also download an application from our website, however, it is not a complete packet as it does not include a fingerprint card nor the return envelope.

WHAT IS THE FEE TO APPLY FOR A FINGERPRINT CLEARANCE CARD AND WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?

Paper Application – Regular (Non-IVP) or IVP:

· The DPS fee* is currently $67.00**, except for volunteers. The fee for volunteers is $65.00**.

· DPS can only accept the following forms of payment, made payable to the Arizona Department of Public Safety:

· Cashier’s Check

· Money Order

· Business check with pre-printed business address

· State agencies may also elect to submit a State Companion Action Transfer form for paper application processing.

· Depending where you have your fingerprints taken, there may be an additional fee for service, which is not controlled by DPS.

*The DPS fee is used to process the application regardless of the final result, approval or denial of a Fingerprint Clearance Card.

**The DPS fee is subject to change at any time and is non-refundable, pursuant to ARS § 41-1750(J)(link is external).

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR MY APPLICATION TO BE PROCESSED?

Paper Application – Regular (Non-IVP) or IVP:

For applicants with no criminal history record, the processing time is currently less than ten days. Please note, this average is subject to change at any time (can increase or decrease) depending upon the number of applications received by DPS.

For applicants with a criminal history record (which will require research by DPS), the processing time averages up to 30 business days. Please note, this average is subject to change (can increase or decrease) depending upon the number of applications received by DPS.

Electronic Application – Regular (Non-IVP) or IVP:

For applicants with no criminal history record, the average processing time is currently less than two days. Please note, this average is subject to change at any time (can increase or decrease) depending upon the number of applications received by DPS.

For applicants with a criminal history record (which will require research by DPS), the processing time currently averages up to 30 business days. Please note, this average is subject to change at any time (can increase or decrease) depending upon the number of applications received by DPS.
